Under the direction of the Assistant Dean, the Graduate Assistant (GA) will support all aspects of the program and gain professional development in social impact and higher education. The GA works with MIT students as they cultivate their visions of social change across diverse disciplines. There will be ample opportunities to build skills and network with staff and students who care as passionately as you do about inclusive social change.

Required Qualifications & Skills:
? Enrollment as a graduate student at a Boston-area university in a related field such as higher education management, international development, social work, public policy, social entrepreneurship, etc.

Work schedule

Social innovation is one of the vehicles by which many MIT students are engaged in public service. IDEAS Social Innovation Challenge [IDEAS] is the PKG Center?s annual innovation, service, and social entrepreneurship program for graduate and undergrad students working on domestic and international projects to meet the needs of underserved populations through systems-change social innovations. IDEAS provides an important space at MIT for supporting and recognizing student social innovators and entrepreneurs. Under the direction of the Assistant Dean for Social Innovation, the program will continue to facilitate student networking around social impact projects, promote students? development of ethical frameworks and practical skills, serve as a bridge between MIT students and outside professionals and alumni using business and innovation for social good, and strengthen the PKG Center?s visibility on-campus.
The Graduate Assistant will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including outreach and communications work for the program, reviewing grant applications and providing feedback, and facilitating workshops. This role will also be responsible for running logistics and managing volunteers for several large and small campus events (virtual and physical). We are looking for someone who would be comfortable representing the program to students and various other stakeholders.
We are seeking a Graduate Assistant to help the Assistant Dean with all aspects of social innovation programming. Precise tasks will depend on workflow and the skills and interests of the chosen applicant, but some areas will include:
? Assist in designing, planning, coordinating, implementing, delivering, and assessing PKG Center?s social innovation program(s) several large campus events, plus numerous smaller program events, workshops, and activities throughout the year
? Support PKG Center?s pre-orientation program for incoming undergraduate students interested in exploring social innovation.
? Design, development, and implementation of on-campus and external outreach efforts.

Job Description & Requirements: | The Center for Mind and Culture (CMAC) is a nonprofit research center that uses social science,
computational modeling and scholarly analysis to tackle complex social problems. CMAC is
seeking several research assistants to help the ongoing work in the Lawson Interviews of
Seventh-day Adventists (LISDA) project. The project draws from a large interview dataset of
Seventh-day Adventists, collected by Dr. Ronald Lawson since 1984 in over 60 countries around
the world. This unprecedented dataset documents the evolution of the Seventh-day Adventist
Church as it became a global church. His interviews delve into changing political and social
views, ethnic and economic inequality, organizational instability, theological debates, and much
more. The LISDA team is seeking multiple research assistants to do tasks related to data cleaning
and the dissemination of project findings. Hired assistants may do one or more of the following
tasks depending on their skills and interests:
• Data entry, cleaning, and updating of the interview database
• Drafting blog posts for the project website
• Writing summaries of relevant literature to support ongoing book writing
