Includes bibliographical references.

"The first Chinese Christian to come to Europe seems to have been Zheng Weixin 鄭維信 (1633-1673, a native of Macao), also called Manuel de Siqueira (Sequeira). He accompanied Alexandre de Rhodes (1593-1660). They departed from Macao in 1645 and in 1649 arrived in Rome, where Zheng entered the Jesuit Order in 1651. He was ordained priest in Coimbra in 1664 and left for China in 1666, where he arrived in 1668 only to live five more years ..." Cf. Standaert, Handbook of Christianity in China, p. 449.
