Most depict stylized views of everyday urban Chinese social activity and a variety of jobs: merchants, street vendors, butchers, craftsmen, money changers, candle makers, bow and arrowsmith, shoemakers, laborers, painters, metalsmiths, tailors, carpenters, selling "smuggled salt" (!) and many more.
