Note from LC auth. record on Nanyin: "(Nanyin is a kind of story-telling which uses poems with seven characters or the Song Ci Poems accompanied by a few instruments. This genre was originated [sic] in Song Dynasty and different provinces has [sic] different styles of singing according to the dialect. In Central & Northern China, story tellings are called Tan Ci (story-telling with the accompaniment of stringed instruments, such as Suzhou Tan Ci, Changsha Tan Ci, etc.), they are accompanied by the Pipa, Sanxian and Erhu.)"
