| Note | Maoshi Mengzi zhushu zhengben 毛氏孟子註疏正本. Annotated by Zhao Qi 趙岐 (died 201); the commentary is attributed to Sun Shi 孫奭 (962–1033). Fourteen juan in ten ce, bamboo paper, bound in five volumes. An elegant edition published by the Jiguge 汲古閣. The book is in good condition. 26 x 15 cm. On the cover there is a Latin inscription: "Opera oia [omnia] Sinensis philosophi Memcy." Wieger’s catalogue (WH) gives: "Mency sermones (4us e ll. classicis) 26 x 15. Mao-xi Mem-Su vetus interpretatio libri memcii. 5 vol., libri 14."At the end of the last ce an inscription in seal characters gives the names of the publisher (the Mao family, i.e., Mao Jin 毛晉, 1599–1659, of Changshu 常熟, Jiangsu; ECCP 1:565–566) and the date of publication (1633): 皇明崇禎六年歲在昭陽作噩古虞毛氏鐫. The beginning of ce 1 bears a preface by Sun Shi and an introduction to the Mengzi zhu tici 孟子注題辭, written by Zhao Qi as a preface to his annotations to Mencius’ book.
