Cancellato l'evento a causa della diffusione globale del coronavirus, gli organizzatori hanno deciso ugualmente di raccogliere i saggi di autori italiani e giapponesi, in cui si affrontano da varie prospettive i temi già annunciati nel titolo del simposio nonché – per il tardo Medioevo e la prima età moderna – fenomeni e problematiche quali l'architettura militare nel Rinascimento italiano, le crociate, l'idea di iustum bellum, lo sviluppo del pensiero politico occidentale, la formazione delle principali monarchie europee e la diffusione (sia pacifica sia violenta) del cristianesimo nelle Americhe e in Oriente dal XVI al XVII secolo.
